India opens E-visas to UK nationals

Evisa facility for India has resumed for British passport holders. The service was halted for the nationals of United Kingdom since the end of the covid crisis.

The High Commissioner to India in the UK said “We look forward to a good winter season in which everybody gets to celebrate their festivals in India, which is the land of festivals.” “So welcome back: eVisas are up ahead.

The High Commission of India in London confirmed this news via Twitter as well as a one to one interaction with the Indian journalists at the High Commission of India that the e-visa facility is now active and available for UK nationals travelling to India. The United Kingdom is now appearing on the list of nationalities for which the evisa is available. It can be applied online here

The High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami stated that e-visas will enable friends from the United Kingdom travel far more easily to India. He further added that the system was upgraded and tested and now live to receive applications from travellers wanting to visit India.

This comes as a huge relief to travellers to India especially people of Indian origin who couldn’t get appointments for personal visa application. This also saw a huge impact on the business in the UK and India that rely on British visitors to the sub-continent.
