Indian Ladies UK is a 40,000-strong community group made up of first generation migrant Indian women in the UK – representing the entire socio-economic as well as geographic spectrum of India; bankers, legal and medical professionals, IT professionals and social workers from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu.
Founded in 2015, ILUK is a not-for-profit organization that began as a Social Media group to connect first generation Indian ladies in Britain – the women who often accompany their husbands migrate for work or move here after getting married to a British citizen.
The group has since grown to be the largest such community organization in the UK. We were personally felicitated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the UK in 2015 and 2018.
What began as a Social Media resource has expanded into an organization that engages in a wide variety of activities aimed at empowering women – from our annual ‘India Bazaar’, which promotes entrepreneurship among stay-at-home moms to workshops on improving language skills and helping members to better integrate into British society.
We also help and campaign on behalf of victims of domestic violence, forced marriage and, in particular, nri-spousal abandonment – all with the assistance, expertise and resources of our own members.
