Have you ever wondered if you had any magic wand which you could just twirl and make a wish?
We wish that all the time, don’t we? We women always carry with us a wishful list consciously or subconsciously. Be it for children, husband, in-laws, parents or siblings, we are on a constant wishing spree.
How many times do we think about ourselves first, before the wishful list begins? Thinking about our SELF as one of the priorities is not a sin. Start putting your health to the equal level as your family members. Let’s talk about the regulators of our body – the Hormones.
Hormones are the chemical messengers which carry the information from one cell to another in the body.Women’s health is very much dependent on hormones and as we age our information carriers get wrecked and tired if we do not treat them well. In that case, we could notice the onset of any ailment, disease or any medical condition.
However, there are simple ways to keep our hormones happy, healthy and in harmony.
There is a hormone called Oxytocin which is one of the four ‘Happy Hormone’. This is perhaps the easiest one to please. Whenever you touch the petals of a delicate flower or you kiss the forehead of your child or you get a comforting hug from a friend or even a gentle caressing around your face by your partner. You feel GOOD. You feel HAPPY!
This is all the work of Oxytocin. This hormone releases it’s chemicals when you feel happy, when you touch what you like or love, when you are touched. In short, it’s a TOUCH hormone. Women are blessed to have this hormone circulating in our bodies during childbirth or when nursing too.
How to release the Oxytocin?
Oxytocin is released when one is carresed, cuddled, kissed, hugged, massaged or even good and safe sex or even holding hands.
Few years back, in my family I introduced the idea of hugging each other as many times as we can, irrespective of day or night. It was well received by all and now has become a default practice. We all hug each other every single day. It provides a sense of belonging, a way to move away from mental and physical tiredness and also works as a healing balm to any uncomforting and stressful situations in the day.
There are endless benefits to having harmony between hormones. A right balance between them brings joy and aligns the body in oneness.
